MRI - couldn't do it

We were at the hospital at 4.45pm for the MRI. Husband got taken in to the MRI room, while I waited just outside. I could hear the noise the machine makes when it starts up, and next thing I could hear it come to a halt again, and saw the lady radiologist going into the MRI room. She had positioned Husband on the MRI table such that he went in head first, and he could not handle it - it was just too claustrophobic. I asked her if he could be positioned feet first, and she agreed to that, and she suggested I stay with him and at least hold his hand so he feels a bit more secure. So, she got Husband up, got him to lie down again so that he would go into the MRI machine feet first, and we started again.

Sorry, could NOT do it! It was just way way way tooooooooo painful for Husband to handle. He had to lie STILL, on his back, for at least 30 minutes... and he just COULD NOT DO IT! He was in too much agony.

So, she got him out of the MRI machine, got him up, called the Ortho surgeon, and told him what happened. Her suggestion - make a new appointment, where they arrange for an anaesthesiologist to come in, put Husband under general anaesthetic (GA), and then they do the procedure. Anyway, the Ortho surgeon will see us tomorrow, and then we can figure out the logistics.

The MRI is fully booked up for Thursday and Saturday, and Friday is a public holiday.... and we have friends from SG (Indu and Anita) coming in on Fri morning, until Sun morning. So the best schedule for us might be to go in either on Sun evening, or Mon morning, and do the procedure, under GA, early on Monday morning. Then see the surgeon either later the same day (depending on his schedule) or morning of the next day. We'll see how it goes after we talk to the surgeon tomorrow, and take it from there. More updates then.

So, till next time, please continue to keep Husband in your thoughts and prayers and, remember, stay safe, stay HEALTHY!
