Yep, Husband is back in OT, to remove the packed in dressing from the sore. They wheeled him off, bed and all, around 7.45am. Procedure is supposed to start around 8.30am, and should take less than 30 minutes. Once it is done, and he is awake enough, they will bring him back to the room... so here I am, sitting and waiting....
The nights are always bad - if you can't sleep properly, and all you have to look at is a vague and indistinct ceiling above you, and you are feeling weak and shaky, and haven't had anything to eat in 3 days, and your surgery is causing discomfort, your tummy is rumbling, the dressing in the sore is pressing up against the spine and causing so much pain... well, let's just say that it does NOT inspire you to heights of cheerfullness. More like depths of despondency. Was awake with Husband most of the night, talking him through the night, massaging his feet, his arm (the one without the IV's going into it). Yes, he did sleep a bit here and there, at which time I also tried to catch some sleep, from about 2 to 4am, and again from 4.30am to 5.30am. I suppose that is better than nothing, though it sure doesn't feel like it!
Will update again once he is back. Hopefully SOON!
