Yep, you can, as Husband just proved.
Yes, he is still in pain. Yes, he is getting better.... with a slow and steady recovery after the drive back from Singapore. Not to say that the pain has gone, but that the extra aches and pains as a result of the 4 hour drive have diminished. So he is back to the level he was before the drive to SG :-D
So, what's the fun I am referring to?
Well, my brother and his wife (A & P) had to come to KL for an MMA meeting (Friday and Saturday). So, on Friday night, after the meeting, they came over to stay the night with us, so Husband decided to test out his new oven in his new kitchen - so for dinner he made roast beef, with roast potatoes. I did a stir fry - well, we do have to have SOME veg, right? The dinner was absolutely DELICIOUS!! Both the roast beef and potatoes were absolutely perfect. YUM YUM YUM!
Then on Saturday, A went off for the MMA meet, while P and I drove to Sg Buloh after breakfast to get some nice hardy plants for our balcony - and got three absolutely gorgeous bougainvillea pots - bright pink flowers, with variegated dark and pale green leaves. Next we need to get some low stands to put the pots on.
In the evening the entire KL hi-tea gang turned up for a pot-luck at our place - my sis and her husband and 2 boys, Suja and her husband, Liz, Beena, Gigi, Koshu - so with Husband and I, and A & P, we had a total of 14. I did a fried rice, Husband did his apple crumble speciality, my sis did lamingtons, Suja did grilled chicken, Liz brought cottage pie and a pasta dish, Gigi brought creme caramel, Koshu brought prawn fritters, rojak and mini sausage rolls - all this was topped off at the end with a glass of port each! We really stuffed ourselves silly, but despite that we still had food left over! You know, we have been doing this for years and STILL we make too much food for our pot-luck hi-teas. Mind you, I don't think we will EVER get the quantity right...but none of us is complaining. Once we finished stuffing ourselves it was time to talk - and that, of course, was accompanied by a lot of laughing too. Husband was in pain, but he was enjoying the company so he was able to stick it out till the end.
The nice thing about this gang of ours getting together is that, at the end of it all, everyone helps with the washing up and clearing..., which is very helpful for Husband and I as we are the only ones out of the whole gang who don't have a maid - and it proves for sure that many hands make light work :-D. A & P also left to head back to Melaka (where they live) after the hi-tea, as P had come down with a bad flu and when you are sick you REALLY want to be back in your own home in your own bed!
Husband and I were out and about today (Sunday 31st May) as well - mostly to make sure Husband did some walking around... then did some shopping (bathroom floor mats!) and a carpet (for our PJ house). Then to PJ to put down the carpet, and also dismantle the small study table, that we had left in PJ, to bring back home to rearrange our study properly. So, that has now been done (only took about 1.5 hours to rearrange the study entirely), and we are resting a bit.
It has been a good day - Husband has been upbeat and cheerful all day, and that was further enhanced by a call from good friend Kevin L from the UK. So, some days, mind definitely wins out over matter.
Till next time folks, have a good life - but remember, stay safe, stay HEALTHY.
